For the past 10 years, VMworld has grown into one of the largest virtualization and cloud computing events in the world. With an expected attendance of 21,000, VMworld 2013 looks to be no different. Attendees from all over the world come to VMworld to gain the tools they need to transform conventional remedies into seamless, agile solutions, which can dramatically simplify their operations and provide unmatched business advantages. Are you ready for VMworld?

During our next #cloudtalk on Tuesday, July 30th at 11am PT, we’d like to invite our service providers, partners, the larger cloud community and VMworld attendees to join us as we discuss predictions and must-see sessions and events for VMworld 2013!

Co-hosting the chat will be Greg Stuart (@vDestination), a 3x VMworld Alumni and vExpert 2011-2013, as well as Wade Holmes(@wholmes), a Staff Solutions Architect at VMware and VMworld Alumni. Greg and Wade will be on the chat to answer questions and share their VMworld experiences.

Luego de terminada la época de los servidores desconectados o aislados nuestra época se avió paso a la intercomunicación de sistemas y tecnologías, con el objetivo de poder lograr la interacción de una forma heterogénea. Unix fue el sistema operativo pionero en este sentido y fue el origen de la configuración de los servidores en clusters.

vSphere Data Protection: Introducción a su arquitectura

Características

vSphere Data Protection (VDP) es una solución de backup y recovery basada en disco que se integra en versiones de vSphere. VDP está completamente integrada con VMware vCenter Server y permite un manejo eficiente y centralizado de las tareas de backup mientras que permite almacenar y deduplicar los mismos siempre y cuando el destino sea a disco.

VDP tiene dos niveles o versiones:

·         vSphere Data Protection (VDP)

·         vSphere Data Protection Advanced (VDP Advanced)

WAN Acceleration en Veeam Backup 7

Veeam Backup & Replication es una de las únicas herramientas de backup específicamente diseñada para ambientes virtualizados, y que incluye además una versión gratuita completamente funcional, obviamente con algunas características que no están disponibles en la versión de pago. Si bien es una herramienta que se merece una buena reseña completa, les dejo este video que muestra en un breve video funciona como la nueva característica WAN Acceleration que se incluirá en la nueva versión 7, próxima a salir al mercado. Está característica permite realizar la replicación de backups sobre enlaces WAN hasta 50 veces más rápido que cualquier otra solución



Como Veeam VMSP Certified me comprometo a crear una guía rápida y sencilla de Veeam Backup, para mostrar como utilizar los componentes de esta excelente herramienta, ya que es de lo mejor que podemos encontrar en el mercado para el manejo de copias de seguridad en datacenters virtualizados.

Licenciamiento y componentes de vCloud Suite 5.1

VMware vCloud Suite 5.1 combina múltiples componentes en un único producto que permiten cubrir todas las capacidades de una infraestructura de cloud. Al utilizarse de manera conjunta, los componentes de vCloud Suite proveen virtualización, servicios de datacenter definidos por software, aprovisionamiento basado en políticas, disaster recovery, manejo de aplicaciones y manejo de operaciones.

Una edición de vCloud Suite 5.1 combina componentes como vSphere Enterprise Plus, vCloud Director, vCloud Networking and Security y muchos otros en una única licencia. Las ediciones de vCloud Suite son licenciadas sobre la base de licencia por procesador, y si bien muchos de los componentes de vCloud Suite también están disponibles como productos separados, esos componentes se licencias también bajo el esquema de licencia por procesador.

Mañana, lunes de 24 de junio, comienza el Cisco Live 2013 en Orlando, Miami. Es el evento más importante de Cisco donde la compañía estará mostrando las nuevas tendencias y tecnologías apuntando a múltiples sectores del mundo de IT. Una de las múltiples sesiones y keynotes que podrán verse allí es la del sector educacional de la compañía, y más específicamente el IT Management Program, de cual daré un breve repaso a continuación para que puedan apreciar los temas que se tocarán este año en la destacada conferencia.

Proximamente estaré rindiendo el exámen correspondiente a la certificación VCP510, VCP-DCV (VMware Certified Professional - Datacenter Virtualization). La misma está orientada a todas aquellas perosnas que quieran obtener el beneficio y jerarquía de esta certificación de parte de VMware. Quienes hayan completado el curso VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V5.1] pueden dar el paso siguiente y obtener esta certificación de valor. Este es mi próximo paso en mi VMware Career.

La idea de este artículo es brindar una visión introductoria simple y concreta del servicio vCloud Hybrid Service de VMware y como se aplica en el mundo real. 

Como todos sabemos el concepto de cloud hoy en día es prácticamente la norma hacia donde se dirigirán todos los profesionales de IT así como también las empresas. Hoy en día pensar en un datacenter virtual es solo el principio, la punta del iceberg. VMware tiene como meta ir hacia una plataforma donde consumiremos servicios, sin que nos preocupemos por el hardware o el software que estos requieran, tendremos acceso a expendedoras de servicios que consumiremos con el fin de ajustar las necesidad de nuestra infraestructura de IT.
